Greg Lauren's FW '16 Presentation
On February 3rd, Greg Lauren presented his FW '16 menswear collection at the ArtBeam Gallery in New York City. The presentation was set up to tell a story- there were boxers in the ring, newsboys, and shoe shiners just to name a few. Lauren himself was interactive with interviewers, fans, and the humble souls who just wanted to say hello.
The vibe of the room was like an old film- the mix of his cut and sewn garments, dimmed lighting, and real people doing real things created a sense of nostalgia. Showcasing archetypes of the male image in the twentieth century, Lauren presented his acute artistic sense of what a man could possibly be.
His use of boxer shoes, waffle thermal, fleece, indigo dye, and military like material aimed to convey the definition of what it meant to be a "real man" in the early twentieth century.
In Lauren's words,
“We can live out our fantasies. We can live out our fears. We can be the people who we want to be.”
