HM x Balmain: Trash or Trash?

Two days after the HM x Balmain collab I'm here to tell you that "it's trash fam." The HM X Balmain collab featured designs from Balmain's famous designer Oliver Rousting. Now re-read that sentence. It featured DESIGNS. Just designs. That's it. The clothes were still produced in the sweatshop HM factories. So basically, you were just paying for the name. I come to find out a day later that the collaboration is reselling for more than actual Balmain retails for. So now I'm sitting here shaking my head. People went absolutely crazy over this collaboration, stampeding into stores and fighting over clothes that sadly WERE MADE IN CHINA. Now if you're someone who is going to respond to me and say "It's cheaper than buying real designer clothes," I'm going to respond first, by laughing in your face, and then second, I'm going to hit you with a nice fact: You can actually get real designer clothes for 50% or more off. All you need is a little patience. By looking on sites like Grailed, eBay and going to thrift stores, you will eventually find what you need. You don't have to believe me but I rarely buy designer clothes for retail. But in the end, you should buy the clothes you love and not care what other people think. So if you LOVED the HM x Balmain collaboration then more power to you. Just remember it's complete trash.

"I never do #TBT but I figured this one would serve a purpose. A little over 2 & a half years ago I started doing this thing on my IG called #TwoTimeTuesday where i wanted to get people to post something they were so passionate about that they had more than 1. It didn't have to be material, people posted pets, plants, tattoos etc. but mine was centered around the most important thing in my life....fashion. Now today the Balmain x H&M collection released and everyone has been asking my opinion & are probably expecting a rant but what people don't understand is where my distaste comes from. See it's not about being materialistic or trying to show that you have more money than someone. Fashion isn't about labels it's about expressing your personality through style. But it's also about respecting the culture. Collabs such as this exploit a culture I love strictly for business purposes and that shit blows mine. I make a living off of fashion but I always maintain my integrity. Don't try to bullshit me with saying "oh this is giving people an opportunity who can't afford Balmain to own it" no that's not true because if u want Balmain or any material thing that bad then you should educate yourself on what your paying for & why your paying that much for it. This is merely people wanting to fit in & wear what's hot for recognition & that shit is lame, it's not what fashion is about. So if you follow me and read all this I hope you walk away with one thing....ambition.the ambition to discover the next Balmain or to create it or to walk around with your head high because your proud of what you have on because you like it not because everyone else is wearing it. 🙏🏽 #HaveABlessedDay" -@Upscale_Vandal
