Runway: Fear of God Seventh Collection
Almost exactly two years ago, Jerry Lorenzo presented Fear of God’s 6th collection, followed by an unprecedented collaboration with renowned luxury tailoring house, Ermenegildo Zegna, in 2019. Two years in the making, Lorenzo has recently launched FOG’s 7th Collection - a true sum of experiences displayed perfectly within his arguably most developed collection to date. Drawing from past inspiration and brand heritage, this collection further cultivates the “easy elegance” nature of Fear of God, while introducing new brand categories and entirely new silhouettes. In the two year span that Lorenzo devoted to developing this collection, he had access to Zegna’s masterful tailoring and philosophy in the highest quality of luxury craftmanship. Tailoring was first introduced to the Fear of God brand in the Zegna collaboration, which at the time seemed aesthetically at odds given the brands’ different styles. While tailoring was present in Lorenzo’s personal wardrobe it was not in Fear of God’s repertoire. The 7th collection blends classical tailoring, modern functionality with Lorenzo’s infused strong sense of styling. Lorenzo describes this collection as '“a coming of age” which ties the brands past to its future.
Described as a “new canon of American style,” the 7th Collection builds on timeless wardrobe staples such as tailoring, denim, knitwear, sweats, and sophisticated easy-going footwear. Featuring an immutable tonal palette, The 7th Collections offers an elevated & sophisticated take Fear of God’s classic silhouettes. In addition to the elevated tailoring and fine knits, Lorenzo’s personal ties to baseball have resurfaced once again. Honoring members of his family, such as his father - an MLB veteran, Lorenzo has infused athletic cuts as well as graphics honoring the centennial celebration of the revolutionary professional baseball Negro Leagues. In addition to the wardrobe staples, The 7th Collection offers an array of practical belts, messenger bags, sunglasses, and small leather goods.
