Runway: Alchemist S/S 19

Roma Cohen has been in the retail business for some time now with his store, Alchemist, which is located in a Herzog & de Meuron designed concept garage in Miami's Lincoln Road Mall. 3 years ago, Cohen decided to cut down the number of brands he carried within his store and decided to start making his own in-house store brand, thus birthing Alchemist as we know it today. Having done collaborations with the likes of Dr. Woo & Warren Lotus, Alchemist has proven itself as one of the up and coming premier fashion labels with most of their production being done in Italy with luxury treated fabrics. Their unique mix of distressing, ethnic colors, and graphics have really separated them from the pack giving us a new perspective on fashion. With that in mind, Alchemist just presented their S/S 19 collection entitled "Rock the Casbah" in Paris earlier this week. This collection is a mix of northern African vibes (Marrakesh) mixed in with the classic chill beach vibes of their home base in Miami. Their use of sourced fabrics (80's vintage & from the same factory that supplies Chanel's woven fabrics) mixed in with their unique color palette and graphics worked superbly in creating a very unique collection with a strong identity. In an industry where rehashing ideas have become common practice, Cohen and his team have really strayed away from that to focus on creating their own unique place within the fashion industry.
