Sheck Wes: New York City’s Best Kept Secret

If you are up to date with internet rappers then you surely know the name, Sheck Wes. Hailing from Harlem, Sheck Wes has dropped two very popular tracks “Mo Bomba” & “Live Sheck Wes, Die Sheck Wes," at the very promising age of 19. Wes has quickly gone from playing basketball in Harlem to being signed to Travis Scott's record label, Cactus Jack. With only 2 tracks released, it is very safe to say that he is headed in the right direction to be a very promising new artist. One of the qualities that I really admire about Wes is that his style and verbiage is so deeply rooted in basketball and fashion, which were his previous interests before he took up music. He recently sat down with Pigeons & Planes in an exclusive interview where he was asked what his creative process was like and he simply answered "Everything you do gotta come from your heart. I remember when I did “Live SheckWes, Die SheckWes,” and when I did “Mo Bamba,” I one-taked those because it came from my heart. I try to one-take all my songs now, even if I do my verse and I fuck up, I'm gonna do the whole verse over." Authenticity & the do it yourself mentality is why I think Sheck Wes is someone to watch out for. Not only will he continue to make music but he is bound to get involved with fashion projects, and hopefully leave a legacy in the meantime.
