A Weekend Review: August 21st, 2017
A weekend review consists of 5 important events that occurred in fashion this week that we have hand selected. Stay in the loop with everything that is going on without having to search through multiple articles. We have condensed everything into one for your convenience. Check out what happened in fashion this week below.
GQ Names Heron Preston, Jerry Lorenzo, and Mike Amiri as most wanted Streetwear Designers
GQ announced that Heron Preston, Jerry Lorenzo, & Mike Amiri as streetwear's most wanted labels currently, and they aren't wrong. Heron Preston has thrived with his DSNY capsule & now his own label. Fear of God designer, Jerry Lorenzo has been at the top of the hype pyramid for some time now, and his 5th collection trackpants are the most wanted track pant in men's fashion currently. Lastly, Mike Amiri, who I consider of a more luxury brand than a streetwear brand has grown exponentially in the last year. His denim and silk bombers are the choice of A-list celebrities and professional altheletes alike. These 3 are the most sought after labels currently and are definitely some designer to watch for next season. Do you agree with GQ's top 3?
Lebron James Announces Collaboration with Kith
Kith just seems to be collaborating with bigger and bigger names these days, and now we can expect a capsule collaboration with LeBron James. The collaboration was announced by James through social media this past week and will be expected to be delivered soon. This calloration makes perfect sense. Ronnie Fieg is highly associated with Nike and atheletes, so why not collaborate with the worlds best basketball player? I am curious to see what comes of this collaboration.
Frank Ocean's "Blond" Turned 1
Frank Ocean's "Blond" turned 1 this past week and it is still one of our favorite albums. Every time I listen through it I find a new favorite song. We waited a long time for Ocean to release a follow up to his Channel Orange, will it take as long to follow up Blond? My guess is yes, but at least we can bask in Frank's greatness while we wait for his next project.
Kith Treats Tokyo is Coming Soon
Ronnie Fieg took to Instagram to announce that Kith treats would be opening in Japan very soon. Kith has been highly successful over the past couple of years, and I am not surprised to see the first small step towards global expansion. Kith treats will be Kith's first loaction outside of the states, and I am sure of its success in Japan. Will we be seeing Kith Tokyo within the next year? I wouldn't be surprised.

This week on Grailed's blog, Dry Clean Only, we were offered a highly dissected look at one of fashion's most influential yet low key designers; Christophe Decarnin. Decarnin held the creative director role at Balmain from 2006-2011, in which he helped the struggling Parisian house do an entire 180 in terms of branding, sales, and ideology. Read more about Decarnin's greatness here.
