Yeezy Season 5 is Kanye's Best Presentation Yet

Kanye West presented his latest installation of Yeezy Season two days ago at Pier 59 in New York City. His last presentation (Yeezy Season 4) resulted in models passing out on a very hot day on Roosevelt Island, so Yeezy had to redeem himself, and he did in more ways than one. Since Kanye announced his collaboration with Adidas, there has been a new excitement in the air every New York Fashion Week. The first presentation was something we have never seen before, but Season after Season we began to grow tired of watching the same show just in different color palettes. Season 5 was very different in many ways, which I would like to highlight. The presentation took place in a very dark room at Pier 59, which created a real focus on what he was presenting since it had a spotlight. Secondly, the show featured a huge screen which featured each look of the collection in a 360 degree view, which I believe was visionary. To showcase every look in a full detailed 360 view is a great way to make sure no one misses anything from your show, so big ups for that Ye. Of course we have to talk about the clothes, because that is all we really care about at the FMFHQ. It is no secret that Kanye has enlisted help for each and every collection. The first seasons consisted of consulting from the likes of Robert Geller & Demna Gvasalia. Not bad talent to have at your disposal when designing a collection. Kanye brought on even more consulting for Season 5, which included Enfants Riches Deprimes Creative Director Henry Levy. Kanye is great at recognizing others who are successful in their industry, so having these talented designers consult for your line is always a good move.

Yeezy Season 5 brought about many exciting things in terms of clothes. Of course the first thing that people look for in any new Yeezy Season is the sneakers. Kanye introduced a new Yeezy silhouette, which looks similar to a Raf Simons Adidas. Ye' has been rocking Karhu sneakers that also hold a similar shape to the new Yeezy. It makes sense that Ye' would release his own variation, due to the fact that others such as Balenciaga are releasing a high end sketcher-like sneaker. I don't hate them by any means, they look comfy as fuck. I was also excited that Kanye reintroduced denim into his fashion arsenal. Some of my favorite work Kanye has done was with A.P.C., so it is exciting to see him incorporate that aspect into his own line. I was also very impressed with the sweatshirts and subtle Calabasas branding. I am very happy that Ye' kept it to only a couple of garments, such as the sweats and the dad cap. My two absolute favorite looks definitely consisted of the snake leather boots (women's) and the puffy OG Helmut Lang inspired coats. I think Season 5 was his best work to date due to its presentation, content, and vision. Be sure to check out every look from the show, and a short video of the final walk.
