Revolutionair: Sean Wotherspoon

Back in March of this year, Nike challenged twelve different designers from all over the world to create an all-new sneaker for Air Max Day. These creatives were from London, Moscow, Istanbul, Amsterdam, Seoul, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Tokyo, Shanghai, Beijing, and New York. Each of the designers was tasked with creating and reinterpreting Air Max silhouettes, each had their own ideas of what they wanted their sneaker to look like, some made hybrids, while others remixed single silhouettes, but in each shoe, you can see a little background of the designer. Nike then gave us the ability to choose our favorite rendition of these Air Maxes. And of course, by now, we know that the winner was Sean Wotherspoon with his hybrid Air Max 97 x Air Max 1.

The Air Max 97 x Air Max 1 Sean designed really embodies everything that he is passionate about. This passion allows the person wearing it to “walk in Sean's shoes.” It's completely made from the love he has for sneakers and his home state of Virginia, it has bold corduroy with raw edges, velour insoles, vintage color blocking, and two iconic Nike silhouettes made into one. This is a completely unique shoe that truly shows the strong impact Nike is leaving on its fan base. This remarkable level of creativity is exactly what was needed in the hyped world of sneakers, everyone should appreciate this personal, meaningful shoe for what it is. In the meantime, keep an eye on Sean's social media for exclusive Round Two releases & the announcement of the global sneaker release in March 2018.
