Fashion Tragedies: The Raf that got away
I think we all have been in a position when our literal "Grail" got away from us. That always hurts, but I can bet you all my Rick Owens that it is not nearly as bad as what happened to me. It was just a normal shopping day in the city, I was hitting all of my favorite boutiques and consignments that I usually frequent. Life was good. I found a couple of Margiela basics for the low what could possibly go wrong? Being a young niave fashion head that I once was, I was not ready for what I was about to encounter. I humbly walked into a well loved consignment that is usually a good place to find some steals. As I looked through the coat rack I came across this GOD LEVEL Raf Simons 99'-00' cape parka for an insanely low price of $200... I know what you are thinking " $200 what a fucking steal! DON'T THINK JUST COP!" Sadly I am writing to tell you that I didn't cop this ultimate Grail that was available for a fraction of what it is worth. I had no idea what it was worth, I had no idea how hyped archival Raf was going to be and already was... Every time I tell this story it haunts me that I didn't just throw it on my credit card and never looked back. We all know that I should have... I will never not regret this decision. However the fact that I came across such a heat item for the low, I am optimistic that their will be other steals out there in the near future. If you would like to see the full listing of the Raf Simons cape parka that I missed copping, I am pretty sure this is the exact same one that I passed up that is now listed on eBay for $2,400. Don't worry I am crying as I am writing this. We all have bad experiences wether it be getting scammed or passing up or selling stuff we ultimately regret. BUT there are so many more jawnz and Grails out there just waiting to be snatched up, so don't loose hope, even though I almost did.
