An Ode to Bowie
After an 18 month struggle with cancer, legend David Bowie has passed on. It goes without saying that Bowie is an icon and will live on in the minds and hearts of many. Though his music is what really created his legacy, Bowie’s style was one of kind, creative, and incredibly unique to him, so I’m here with his top 5 moments in fashion. RIP.
This striped jumpsuit, designed by Kansai Yamamoto in the 1970s, quickly became one with Bowie's identity.
Taken around 1974, Bowie modeled this mustard suit with a matching mustard striped shirt and mustard houndstooth socks- something I think most of us would be too afraid to do.
Pictured above is yet another striped jumpsuit, however this is undoubtably one of the most infamous Ziggy era looks- a low cut, striped jumpsuit featuring extremely bold shoulder pads and incredible leather, platform boots.
On his cover of Earthling, Bowie donned this Union Jack dress coat and rocked every bit of it.
Bowie was a master of androgyny, in my opinion, and one of his personas, Aladdin Sane, became well known for this outfit, as well as his infamous lightening bolt-crossed face.
