How to Wear a Monochromatic Outfit
I think it’s safe to say that almost every single outfit Kim K has graced us with in the past few months have been insanely trendy. The aspect of her outfit that has undoubtedly made women everywhere envy her is her ability to pull off the monotone color scheme. This monotone color scheme can be attributed to Kanye and his line, but whether it was her idea or not, she’s killin it. But if we can all look at her and swoon, why isn’t anyone trying to emulate it? It’s honestly not that hard so I’m here with some tips as to how to pull off an outfit that’s all one color.
I’m starting off with all black because almost everyone already feels comfortable trying for an all black outfit. In this picture, Kim’s wearing Vetements, J Brand, and Tom Ford but all black can be done for a much cheaper price tag, I promise.
Out of all the colors I’ll be going over, black is definitely the easiest of the colors to either dress up or down. Eleanor Calder debuts this all black outfit with some white and black Adidas SuperStars and actually managed to find a perfect balance of casual and dressed up. She did so by pairing a blazer with sneakers and she does it with ease. The good thing about Eleanor is that she has a tendency to shop at a few places with cheaper price tags so that you can cop some of her exact pieces.
This all white outfit is so beautiful. Honestly, the no white after Labor Day rule should be put to bed. If I wasn’t as pale as I was, I’d try an all white look all the time. Though she is donning head to toe Valentino, there are easier and more affordable ways for us, non-celebrities to wear all white, too!
Florencia of @Florencia95 rocks this all white outfit with total ease and again, if I weren’t so painfully pale, I’d go for it because this is 100% my style. The oversized turtle neck by @TheDesignRepublik paired with cropped white jeans and all white Nike Thea’s make for a really easy going and comfortable outfit.
In this particular example, even Kim admits that this outfit is Kanye inspired seeing as she’s wearing literally all Yeezy Season 2- even North got in on the monotone action with some custom baby Yeezy. But you don’t need to be decked in Yeezy Season head-to-toe in order to wear one color (even though that’d be pretty nice).
Danielle of @WeWoreWhat, a popular Instagram you might already follow, sported this Yeezy inspired outfit at New York Fashion Week. She tagged H&M in her post, implying that she purchased her clothing there. Though I’m personally not a supporter of the fast fashion movement, the fact that this outfit is H&M goes to show how easy it is to find and pull off an all beige outfit.
So there you have it! See? It's a lot easier to wear a monochromatic outfit than you thought! xx
