The Art of Peace & Quiet: An Interview with Ashley Lennon

When I first came across Peace & Quiet, and in turn, Ashley Lennon on social media I was immediately attracted to the overall aesthetic and vision that is portrayed across both platforms. Peace & Quiet goes beyond simply being a brand, it really is a lifestyle. That is perhaps what has set them apart amidst countless other up and coming brands right now and has encouraged their growth. I have been following along with Peace & Quiet’s journey for a while now and it has been amazing to see them receive the appreciation they deserve.

I had the chance to speak with Ashley (virtually of course) and talk about all things Peace & Quiet. From what it’s been like to start a brand from the ground up in today’s society, to her daily sources of motivation and inspiration. If you want to step into the mind of Peace & Quiet, be sure to read the full interview below.

For those who may not know, can you tell us who you are and where you're from? As well as where are you currently based out of?

“I’m Ashley; A SoCal native and currently I’m based in Costa Mesa, Orange County.”

Growing up, what did you envision your career path to be? What caused this path to evolve?

“Growing up there was a lot of pressure and expectation instilled at a young age to follow the standard blueprint for success at a corporate career but I never regret the detour and risks that I took to get to where I’m at.”

Can you give us some insight into who Peace & Quiet is as a brand?

“I think this is a really a movement in the early stages, it’s just getting started”

What is your main role(s)?

“I’m the Co-Founder of Peace & Quiet. I launched PQ alongside my Fiancé, Christion. We both wear many hats and oversee everything from concept, design, to production. We have great synergy and working together has been a blessing.”

Typically, what does a workday look like for you?

“My typical work (from home) day starts with a walk early AM, then I break my fast with something light. I never check my phone as soon as I wake up. I like to start working while it’s still early so typically I’ll plan the day’s itinerary. I then tackle emails and correspondences. I also spend time assessing progress on various projects. I’m never really off the clock…”

Do you have any tips for fellow creatives that may be aspiring to launch a brand or even a project?

“JUST START :) because most people, including myself, tend to overthink and over plan and nothing ever really gets done. That first step is always the hardest but it’s either you sink or you swim.”

What are the things that are keeping you inspired and motivated, especially right now?

“The internet. There’s so much information out there, I get really into researching and learning new things on my own through the internet. It’s such a vital way to build relationships, meet like-minded people, and to stay connected. The world is a lot smaller online.”

On a personal level, what are the essential items that are a must in your everyday life?

“It’s simple. Obviously I’m going to say my phone and laptop but the less obvious things like a good pair of sweatpants, sneakers, and a white tee because comfort is the ultimate luxury. Also- water, incense, and chapstick.”

Today, the creative industry is no doubt overly saturated. How do you ensure that Peace & Quiet is creating its own path?

“I think authenticity is key so it’s really about figuring out how to embody all of these things I like but have my own voice.”

If the person reading this didn’t know anything about Peace & Quiet and what the brand represents, what would you want the main takeaway to be?

“Clean design and simple taste.”

Are there any exciting projects, releases or collaborations that we should keep an eye out for in the near future?

“We have a lot of fun collaborations rolling out this year. Our collab with Giu Giu has been a while in the making but is set to release in late May.”

To you, what defines success?

“To me, success isn’t measured by wealth or fame... it’s living a life that you love.”
