Small Business Spotlight: Cowboy Shoe Repair

For those unaware, the FMF team, as a collective, has an affinity for boots and leather footwear. There is nothing better than investing in a staple pair of boots, loafers, or dress shoes to give your wardrobe versatility and depth. That said, footwear should be viewed as an investment and if there is one thing that to learn when buying expensive footwear is that you want them to last. I first started going to Cowboy Shoe Repair here in New York City in 2016 after I bought my first pair of serious boots - Hedi Slimane’s Saint Laurent 60mm Wyatt Boot. With the purchase of such an important pair, a staple to my wardrobe, I decided to protect them before I wore them on the harsh, jagged streets of NYC. For Byron Valarezo, the owner and operator of Cowboy Shoe Repair, this was common practice. Four years later, my Wyatts have stood the test of time and Cowboy Shoe Repair has repaired countless designer footwear in my current collection. Essentially, a piece of rubber Vibram is added to each sole of every shoe to give it grip and protection from the elements. In addition, heel replacement and polishings are routine and necessary in order to keep your shoes in good condition.

Byron Valarezo has over 30 years of experience repairing shoes. Valarezo has a keen eye for quality & craftsmanship - he has repaired and given extra life to our team's footwear from the likes of Celine, Midnight Rodeo, and many more. Due to the earth-shattering pandemic that is COVID-19, Cowboy Shoe Repair has, like too many small businesses around the world, struggled to survive. The service industry has been shaken to its core and we have seen countless businesses close due to this crisis. The FMF team decided to film this short clip of Valarezo to help promote his business so he can keep his doors open and continue to contribute to the fabric of New York City. Shoe repair is an essential investment and trade that one should value - especially when trying to preserve any shoe worth significant value.
