Mr. Porter Launches Celine Homme Campaign for S/S21 "The Dancing Kid"

Hedi Slimane is no stranger to youth subcultures - over his 20+ year career, he has captured the vast complexities of underground music, skate culture and rebellious youth spirit throughout his photography and ready-to-wear collections.

Since his appointment as Creative Director of Celine in 2018, Slimane has worked tirelessly to reinvent the brand or rather take it back to its Parisian roots by re-establishing house signatures and introducing a slew of new brand categories such as fragrance, men’s collections, and monogram canvas. Five collections into this re-establishment, Slimane has directed his focus on creating something completely new and modern for his men’s collection. As a documentarian of youth cultures and the energy that surrounds a generation, it was only natural that Hedi look to one of the world’s largest incubators of modern youth culture - Tik Tok. Entitled “The Dancing Kid",” Slimane’s collection highlights modern skate culture, e-boys and a new generation of grunge. While it may be a drastic shift in styling, music choice and collection inspiration, it still stays true to Slimane’s vision of capturing youthful creativity and rebellion.

Teaming up with luxury retail magnate, Mr. Porter, Celine Homme has delivered a 48 piece capsule collection which dropped online this past week. For the editorial, Mr. Porter tapped NYC based skater, Keith Hardy (@shredmasterkeith), who was photographed wearing Celine pieces as he skated through the Lower East Side of New York City. Fully embodying the spirit of skate culture that was rampant throughout “The Dancing Kid” collection, the editorial matched the authenticity that Slimane designed the collection with. The 48 piece capsule collection is now live and selling quickly - be sure to check out the editorial below and shop the capsule here.
