The Age of the "Dad" Sneaker has Arrived

To all of the men who are facing a mid-life crisis don't freak out just yet because your Dad sneakers are now the hottest thing in men's fashion. Within the past year or so we have seen an exponential growth of the trend of ugly clunky sneakers that look a lot like your Dad's New Balance 574's. The first sneaker that became popularized that looked like a luxe Sketcher definitely had to be Raf Simons's Ozweego sneaker with Adidas. Of course it being Raf, it was an instant bestseller & popular among street culture. With the reoccurrence of tracksuits & other 90's trends, it only makes sense that big clunky sneakers would resurface among many high-end designer brands. Balenciaga's Triple S sneaker is currently the hottest Dad sneaker in fashion and other brands are starting to fall into the trend as well. Acne Studios & Yeezy will be delivering their own variation of a Dad sneaker later this Fall, and I am sure there will more brands to follow.

Styling: Since these sneakers are for the most part extremely clunky, skinny jeans are not even close to being an option. To pull off this look you have to wear loose fitting trousers. Whether that be track pants, sweats, or loose fitting denim you will have to choose something that fits your personal style. We have all seen this sort of look before, Chunky sneakers, baggy Supreme trousers, and a Gosha sweater. It is that real European 90's trash reinterpreted through luxe brands. This look is one of the most popular looks in fashion right now, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. It is easy to pull off, it's comfortable, but it is becoming a bit repetitive. Like all good things, they will eventually get ran into the ground by hype. Below we have selected some of the most popular Dad sneakers on the market right now. Which one would you rock?
