Runway: Dior Homme S/S20

A few days before Dior's S/S20 runway presentation, their social media promoted a short video of a Dior clock reimagined by artist, Daniel Arsham featuring his signature eroded concrete with exposed shards of quarts. Since Kim Jones took the creative helm at Dior Homme for Spring 19', artist collaborations have been at the core of his design ethos. Connecting today's most relevant artist with a fashion powerhouse such a Dior has proved a triumphant formula for captivating today's fashion consumer. With Arsham and Jones being close friends, it was only a matter of time before they linked up for a collaborative collection.

The idea of this collection was connecting the past of Christian Dior with the future of the Maison. The clock aforementioned was inspired by a photo from the 1950s in Mr. Christian Dior's office. In addition, some of the collection pieces included old newspaper articles that reference the brand's history. By bringing on Daniel Arsham, who is known for his "future relics" series, Jones was able to connect Dior's past to a more archaic yet futuristic world found in Arsham's works. Setting the stage with pink sand and DIOR spelled out in giant crumbling concrete letters designed by Arsham, Jones presented his latest chapter of Dior Homme.

S/S20 began with an array of tonal suiting in luxury silks that were rich with layers and translucent fabrics that added depth and a level of elegance that was present in Jones' first SS19 collection. Jones also updated the classic Dior Gray suit with silk material, lapel sashes, and gradient layering pieces. The color palette mixed traditional Dior Homme with Arsham's monochromatic style with splashes of pinks and gradient blues.

The footwear in the collection consisted of a sneaker-boot that was developed by Dior's footwear team and Arsham which features a translucent upper that allowed for a variety of oblique printed socks to be seen through the sneaker.

Continuing their line of successful collaborations, Rimowa teamed up with Dior for a variety of different aluminum cases embossed with a gradient Dior oblique print. The range included a baccarat champagne case, a roller cabin-plus suitcase, and a variety of colored shoulder bags.

Jones & Arsham's design met perfectly in the middle to give us one of the most exciting and anticipated collections of the Spring 2020 season. Our favorite pieces in the collection include the Rimowa accessories, the Silk suiting & shirting, the Yoon Ambush & Arsham accessories, and the translucent sneaker boot.
