Runway: Amiri A/W 18'

There is no question that Mike Amiri has taken over the luxury rock n' roll style market in just a very short 3 years. Taking cues from the grunge scene of LA and from some of his influences such as Hedi Slimane, Amiri has crafted a label with a serious cult following. In a recent New York Times article, it was revealed that the Amiri label is projected to make $40 Million in 2018. In light of the brand's rapid success, Amiri presented his first ever runway presentation in Paris (1/20). The collection brought a lot of exciting new pieces as well as re-editions of what we have come to love from Amiri. It is no secret that Amiri denim has become the cornerstone of this thriving business, and this season brought us an array of glitter waxed, cheetah printed, and of course, distressed Italian stretch denim. In addition to the denim offering, Amiri referenced the 1987 thriller "The Lost Boys," (which was about a teen vampire biker gang living in California) in a couple of different graphics as well as styling. The outerwear for A/W 18' consisted of heavy loose knitted hoodies and cardigans, as well as sharply cut leather jackets, and a couple of very detailed bomber jackets. We were really excited to see Amiri present in Paris and look forward to seeing the brand grow even more this year. Some of my favorite pieces were the fringed brown suede parka, the silver glitter jeans, and the Lost Boys graphic sweater.
