Yeezy Season 4 Presentation at Roosevelt Island

Kanye West held his fourth installment of Yeezy Season at Roosevelt Island yesterday, and let's just say it wasn't the smoothest show ever, but none the less it was a spectacle as always. I got my invite just hours before the show was scheduled to begin, and of course it was at a location that wasn't easily accessible. Ye is getting a lot of heat (literally) for having an outside presentation considering the sweltering heat that early September brings in NYC. Regardless of the heat, I thought the location ended up being very unique because of the back drop of New York City and the actual location itself. It featured a very nice thick rock foundation with trees surrounding both sides of the lawn in which the show was presented. Everyone you could imagine attended this show, from 2Chainz to Pharrel and everyone in between was lined up ready to see Kanye's fourth attempt to create something new.

Now let's get get to the actual show itself. The models began to walk around the triangular runway in oversized thigh high boots and puffy outerwear in different variations and colors. The colors were very consistent in regards to his previous lines, as was the footwear. It wasn't really anything new that we haven't seen from Ye, however I did see some progression. This season was mostly womenswear, which I think will sell better than previous collections, considering his wife and her family will constantly wear it, thus helping to market the product. Besides the business side of it, I saw a lot of influences in his clothing as usual, primarily older Helmut Lang. One of the puffy coats that Ye pieced together was an iteration of the same coat Helmut produced in 1999. It makes sense because Helmut had a military type look, and Ye is trying to create military staples with non contrasting tones. Season 4 may have gotten ripped apart by other publications such as WWD, but they can't deny that it is always entertaining to attend a Kanye fashion show.  There has also been literally 0% coverage on Kanye's clothing. Every publicist is complaining about the heat and similar distractions, which are details that take away from the experience of the presentation itself. This is a conversation about clothing, and Ye deserves to have opinions on his clothing, not about how hot you were that you couldn't wear your wool coat because there wasn't any air conditioning. Although I think some of the aesthetic he is using has been heavily influenced, I did see progression in his work, which is really all you can ask for since he only has had a handful of years under his belt. Be sure to view our photos from the show and give us your opinion. Is Kanye getting better, or is he floundering season to season?

Favorite look: Multi-pocket white coat with White thigh high sock boots.
