Raf Simons to take position of CCO at Calvin Klein

So, it's finally official. Raf Simons, alum of brands such as Dior and Jil Sander, as well as head of his own eponymous, well regarded brand, has just been appointed as Chief Creative Officer of Calvin Klein, effective immediately. Following Simons' departure from Creative Director at Dior, rumors were floating around for months about what was next for the designer. On multiple occasions, Simons opened up about the pressure he felt from being in charge of so many lines, and how constantly going back and forth designing had kept him without an incubation period for ideas, something he feels is necessary for the creative process.

This move to CK, and at such a high position in the company, would then mean that Raf will most likely be doing less hands on designing (which, if you've seen the film Dior and I, you know he wasn't super big on anyways), and concentrating more on direction of the brand. With a company as big and wide reaching as Calvin Klein, this will more than likely be a way of unifying all the different Calvin Klein brands, and push them forward under one singular vision. Also worth mentioning is that Simons' right hand man, Pieter Mulier, will be joining him at Calvin Klein as Creative Director.

Congratulations, Raf! We at Fashion Moves Forward are eager to see what you'll do in your new position.
