Helmut Lang's Art Exhibit at the Dallas Contemporary Museum

Helmut Lang's Art Exhibit at the Dallas Contemporary Museum

The famed 1990's fashion designer, Helmut Lang, recently opened an art exhibit at the Dallas Contemporary art museum and I was lucky enough to see it for myself. Vogue did an article based on this exhibit back in April, which intrigued me to take a trip to Dallas. Helmut Lang has influenced many modern day designers such as Kanye West, Boris Bidjan Saberi, and even Rick Owens. Lang is famous for his monumental and influential designs in fashion, until he left his namesake brand in 2005 to pursue art. Lang's knowledge of materials are very present in his artwork, considering his use of old sheepskin that has been covered in tar. I thought it was very intriguing to view Lang's artwork considering my appreciation for his runway designs. Lang's artwork combines beauty with brutalism in a very unique way. Check out the photos I took of the gallery below.
